Outpost North is a wilderness basecamp in the heart of the Swedish lake areas of Dalsland & Värmland.

This is Outpost North

This lovely lakeside property has been used as a campsite since the late 70s. The long history proves what we have known for years – this is simply the best place in the region to start your outdoor adventures from.
Dalsland Nordmarken Lake District has became a cornerstone for canoe/kayak enthusiasts from all over Europe, offering the best access to interconnected lakes, serene forests, and a raw connection to nature. Now, as we build upon this legacy, we’re expanding the vision to create a stepping stone for a variety of Northern adventures—tailored to explorers and families in search of unforgettable moments in the wild.

This experience of self-sufficiency—cooking over fires, pitching tents in remote locations, and embracing the primal rhythm of nature—forms the soul of Outpost North.

More than a campsite

Our basecamp is more than a place to rest—it’s where stories converge and adventures are born. After days in the wild you return to the comfort of cozy tipis, can prepare your meals in our guest kitchen, or join our common dinners. Here, modern amenities meet rustic charm: a floating sauna, BBQ areas, fire pits, and a well equipped reception await to make your stay both convenient and memorable.

Whether you are looking to indulge in ice cream after a long paddle, toast with a celebratory beer under the stars, or plan your next adventure, our camp is designed to fulfil the cravings of both body and spirit.

Adventures are waiting for you

Outpost North is a gateway for diverse outdoor experiences. Beyond canoeing, we offer mountain biking through the Nordic woods, guided foraging tours, and relaxing days by the lake. For families, solo travellers, and groups, our mission is to create accessible, sustainable, and unforgettable ways to explore the Scandinavian wilderness.

WILDERNESS BASECAMP

On site you can find a small reception where adventurers can rent equipment like mountain bikes to explore the stunning surroundings or fishing rods to try their luck at catching perch or pike (fishing permits are also available).
We also offer snacks, drinks and essential outdoor items.

Open water is the highway to adventure

Discover the Swedish wilderness in a unique way: by canoe. Explore hidden places and paddle independently across the lakes of one of Europe’s most unspoilt nature reserves: Nordmarken.
